Let me show you this time where to find, in the city centre, just a few of the famous Italian style furniture and lighting stores.

De Padova in Corso Venezia, corner San Damiano, is one of my favourite stores for elegant and simple furnishings, very Italian.  Going down to the lower floor be sure to stop halfway to enjoy the many stylish unusual items for the home and office in glass, wood and leather, as well as a few pieces of simple jewellery.

Going down Via San Damiano you will see the windows of Cappellini although the entrance is around the back in via Santa Cecilia.   Moving on to Via Durini there are several places which will give you a general idea of what Italian design has to offer today:  Cassina at n.18 for sofas, unusual chairs, bookcases, B&B at n.14, two floors of sofas, tables, chairs, objects for the home.  Gervasoni at n.7 specialises in wicker work, and Natuzzi, a new store, has a lot of long low couches and classical leather sofas.

da Driade in Via Manzoni is much larger than it looks passing through beautifully furnished rooms until you come to a magnificent frescoed room within this Italian palazzo.  Quite a stunning place to visit. Philip Stark designer furniture can be found here, very popular at the moment.

Just across the road you may like to visit Armani Casa, typical Armani simple lines and colour, and Flou for the bedroom.

Lighting:  A place with a great choice of all types of designer lighting is Blackout in Via dell’Orso.  However, the individual top designer shops are: Flos in Corso Monforte n.9 with a wonderful selection, and Artemide  at n.19, as well as la Murrina for Venetian lamps, chandeliers and vases.  Another classic, Fontana Arte is at n.4 via Santa Margherita, just off Piazza Duomo.
