The Sales in Milan - The Golden Quadrant The sales usually begin in January and July. Sales are regulated by the Regional council, so the dates change yearly. Part I – The Sales: Via Montenapoleone What better place to be than Milan at sale time – early July (presumably, because
at the time of going to press the Region had not yet decided on the exact date!).
So, having decided to treat yourself this year, why not go for (at least) one
beautiful have-to-have luxury item at one (or all) of the following shops.
Within a very small area, in the centre of Milan, in and around Via Montenapoleone,
there is everything you could wish for, and if it doesn’t fit or “it’s just not
you”, at least you have had a feast for the eyes, which is also good for the moral!
Walking from Piazza San Babila across the road to Via Montenapoleone, on the corner, we first come across Fratelli Rossetti for beautiful shoes, bags, belts. Armani Couture for high fashion creations, La Perla, for the best in underwear, swimwear and gorgeous tops, Ferragamo (often a queue), for quality clothing, shoes and bags as well as beachwear, Mariella Burani, has a wonderful colourful collection of gypsy-style dresses, huge belts, fun
boots. Next door is Tanino Crisci, super classical shoes for both sexes, Bottega Veneta for leatherwear goods, Sergio Rossi for the most incredible sandals for day and night, the higher the better! And
of course Gucci for everything (beware of the queues), apart from the wonderful collection of
clothes, Gucci is famous for its sunglasses, bags and shoes, magnificent headscarves
with the trademark wide colourful border, a never ending choice of quality goods.
Prada is opposite with gorgeous bags, and so is Ars Rosa a delightful little shop for deluxe nightwear and embroidered items.
To complete your luxurious day, why not have lunch in the quiet cool courtyard
of Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone in Via Montenapoleone at n.12.
And to think that this is just a tiny taste of what Milan has to offer, buon
divertimento, and buon shopping!
Part II – The Sales: Via Verri, Via Sant’Andrea, Via della Spiga
Continuing our walk, down Via Montenapoleone, take the first left into Via Verri for the new Burberry store with its updated materials and styles, male, female and baby. Opposite
is the wonderful Jil Sander, which specialises in exquisite materials and simply cut clothes, very chic.
Going backwards, Via Verri becomes Via Sant’Andrea. Immediately on the left is Marisa for lovely items in silk, gorgeous suits, next door is Lorenzo Banfi for extremely good quality shoes and boots, then there is Guido Pasquali, famous for elegant sandals, shoes and boots, Trussardi with a younger range of fashion and an excellent range of leatherwear items,
bags, wallets, sunglasses, all very fashionable at the moment.
Across the road is Doriani for cashmere (men only, just in case you are feeling guilty and want to buy
your man a present…). Then, gorgeous Armani, Kenzo for colourful sandals and dresses, Antonio Fusco, very stylish beautifully cut clothes, Gianfranco Ferre with lots of black, Casadei has high platform sandals and bags with a flowery motive, and super gold sandals.
Moschino with its beautiful window displays, always very colourful, violet and red, gold
and white, making a very Moschino statement! Then there is Fendi, bags galore but not only.
Left into Via della Spiga, and on the right is Tods, for quality and style in super soft leather, bags, belts, wallets. A bit further
along is Dolce & Gabbana, a magnificent shop for its design, its incredibly beautiful evening wear, it
even has a little bar for those hanging around whilst you are trying to decide!
Just a little further ahead, Just Cavalli wild and wonderful, great fun (be sure to take the lift!).
Nearby, a peaceful lunch could be in the Veranda of the Four Seasons Hotel in Via Gesù,
Suggestion: Close your day with a little culture by visiting the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi also in Via Gesù, conveniently, just across the road from the hotel.
